Terengganu Wildlife Department confirms it did not escape from a zoo nearby.
KEMAMAN: The Terengganu Wildlife Department has confirmed that the tiger hit by a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at KM321.2 of the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2) in Kemaman yesterday was from the wild and did not escape from a zoo nearby.
Its director, Mohd Hasdi Husin, when contacted, said based on an autopsy, the pregnant tiger died from severe head injuries after being hit by the MPV.
He said another autopsy would be carried out by the Veterinary Services Department soon to determine the background and original habitat of the tiger, which weighed about 100kg.
In the 1am incident, the tiger was trying to cross the expressway when it was hit by an MPV heading from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Terengganu.
