Kedah MB says as an Umno veteran, Rafidah should unite all party members instead of issuing statements that divide them.
ALOR SETAR: Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah has appealed to Umno veteran Rafidah Aziz not to poison the minds of the people by issuing statements that can bring Umno down.
Ahmad Bashah reminded Rafidah that the Kedah crisis had been resolved but more importantly that the change in menteri besar had been executed in accordance with existing laws.
“Don’t dispute the issue and keep harping on it. It has been lawfully settled,” he told reporters after attending a religious ceremony in conjunction with the late Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj’s birthday, here today.
In a recent Facebook posting, Rafidah described the political crisis in Kedah that resulted in the resignation of Mukhriz Mahathir as menteri besar, as reminiscent of the current political culture “where toppling leaders seem to be the ‘norm’.”
Ahmad Bashah said that as an Umno veteran, Rafidah should instead unite all party members instead of issuing statements that left them divided.
“We (the state Umno) requested the Prime Minister resolve the matter (menteri besar crisis), because we wanted to strengthen the state Umno and make thorough preparations for the coming general election,” he said.
