Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan (pic) has described former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as insane for being open to cooperating with his former rival Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Abdul Rahman said that Dr Mahathir's actions has been so confusing lately, so much so that it does not seem out of the ordinary anymore.
"Tun Mahathir is just confusing the country and I feel that whatever he does is no longer something extraordinary.
"It has come to the point that his actions are insane, as it contradicts his statements in the past," he told reporters after the closing ceremony of the Gelang Patah Umno Division meeting here on Saturday.
He was commenting on Dr Mahathir's recent stance that he no longer had qualms over working with Opposition leaders Anwar and Lim Kit Siang.
Dr Mahathir appeared in the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Monday and met with Anwar after attending the latter's hearing on his case appeal.
During his speech, Abdul Rahman urged Umno members to remain united, steadfast in fighting for the party's cause and continue to be loyal to its leadership.
He noted that the formula would help Umno retain its position in the coming general election.
"Umno has always been a consistent party with a cause to fight for Malay rights as well as to protect the interest of other races," he added.
