He expects 55,000 units of affordable houses would be built by end of the year with some units ready now.
KUALA LUMPUR: The government is committed to building 80,000 units of affordable houses in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan by 2018, said Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
He said construction of more than 36,000 units of the houses had taken off the ground since two years ago, with some of the units now ready.
“The government is always concerned and understand the people’s need for affordable houses in the city.
“We will not break our promise because we want to see the people live in good surroundings,” he said in his speech at the “Kenduri 1Wilayah Persekutuan” event in Wangsa Maju, here, today.
He expects 55,000 units of affordable houses would be built by end of the year.
The programme, an initiative by the ministry to strengthening relations among the local residents, was attended by more than 3,000 people.
